TANROADS KIGOMA
JOB OPPORTUNITY
TANROADS is a Semi – Autonomous Agency
responsible for maintenance and development of Trunk and Regional Roads Network
in Tanzania Mainland, implementation of roads safety and environmental
measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans
for the road sector. It is also mandated with a responsibility of conducting
Axle Load Control Operation using Weighbridge.
The Regional Manager’s
Office TANROADS – Kigoma, on behalf of the Chief Executive , TANROADS, intends
to recruit suitable qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following
various vacancies in the Region on contract terms [Renewable subject to
satisfactory performance] in order to improve effectiveness and efficiency in
road Maintenance and axle load control operations in the Region.

Successful applicants
must be ready to work on assigned office work accordingly.

Only successful
applicants will be notified to attend the interview.

Applicant who previously
works on weighbridge should not apply for these
Vacancies.
1.
JOB TITLE: TECHNICIAN [3 POSTS -1 For
Materials Laboratory and 2 for Roads Maintenance Works]
A. KEY QUALIFICATION:
1.
The job holder must have
a full Technician Certificate [FTC] or Equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution
2.
Must be computer literate
[at least an advance certificate in computer
Application]
3.
Must be fluent in both
written and spoken Kiswahili and English
Languages.
4.
Must be a Tanzanian
citizen.
5.
Not above 35 years.
B. DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Inspects and reports on
all designated roads monthly or at more frequent
Intervals if required.
2.
Prepares and supervises
monthly work programmers for petty contractors
Undertaking Routine/Recurrent, Periodic and
Emergency maintenance work as directed by Engineer.
3.
Supervises Bridge
maintenance works as directed by Engineer.
4.
Measures and certifies
for payment contract works.
5.
Certifies worksheets,
delivery notes and similar documentation as directed by Engineer.
6.
Prepares reports for the
Engineer as required.
7.
Carries out in situ
testing and takes site samples.
8.
Undertakes all Regional
laboratory tests.
9.
Records and Reports on
all test results.
10.
Monitors test result
trends and reports to the Maintenance Engineer on
Issues concern.
11.
Ensures that all
laboratory apparatus and equipment is maintained in good
Order and is calibrated as and when necessary.
12.
Manages the Regional
laboratory stores.
13.
Monitor laboratory
expenditures and ensures that invoices are raised
Promptly for customer services.
14.
Works for and follows up
opportunities to widen the public and private
Sector customer base.
15.
Prepares regular and ad
hoc reports as required.
16.
Perform such other
related duties as may be assigned by Engineer from

2. JOB
TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE IN – CHARGE- [2 POSTS]
A. KEY

Holder of bachelor degree
in civil Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

concern with weighbridge and reporting to Regional

Preparing the monthly
report for the good records of the operations and

circular of the shifts for weighbridge operators and

3. JOB
TITLE: WEIGHBRIDRE OPERATOR – [6 POSTS]
A. KEY
QUALIFICATION
1.
Holder of full Technician
Certificate in Civil Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (FTC), (Higher
qualification will be advantageous).
2.
Must be computer literate (at least Advance
Certificate in Computer Application)
3.
Must be fluent in both
written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
4.
Must be a Tanzanian
citizen.
5.
Not above 35 years of
age.
B. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The holder of this post
who reports to shift in charge will be responsible for:
1.
Enforcing road Traffic
Axle Load Control by use of weighbridge scale Devices.
2.
Carrying out activities
as described in the road traffic [maximum Weight or vehicles] Regulations, 2001
which include the following:
·
Weighing motor vehicles
gross vehicle weight [GVW] > 3.500kg plying on our public roads.
·
Imposing road damage fee
on the spot for overloaded motor vehicles.
·
Measuring physical
dimensions of motor vehicles or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for
determining compliance or non – compliance with vehicle dimension limits by the
transporter for provision of relevant advises.
·
Recording all necessary
particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed.
·
Observing good customer
care, dignity and integrity.
·
Reporting all matters of
the respective shift to the shift incharge
·
Performing other duties
as may be assigned from time to time by the shift in charge/Regional Manager.
4. JOB TITLE: DRIVER – [2
POSTS]
A. KEY
QUALIFICATION
1.
Holder of a form IV certificate
2.
Holder of valid class C
driving license
3.
Having driving experience
of at least five years
4.
Must be fluent in both
written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages
5.
Must be a Tanzanian
citizen
6.
Not above 35 years of age
A. KEY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The holder of this post
who reports to shift in charge He/She will be responsible for:
Carrying out activities
as described in the Road Traffic [maximum weight of vehicles] regulations 2001
which include the following:
1.
Driving agency light
vehicles in urban and remote areas.
2.
Maintaining the vehicle
logbook and all accident records pertaining to the assigned vehicle.
3.
Keeping the vehicle in
good working order and in clean condition.
4.
Reporting repairs or
maintenance needs of the vehicle to the shift in charge timely.
5.
Observing good customer
care, Dignity and integrity
6.
Perform such other
related duties as may be assigned by the shift in charge.
5. JOB TITLE: CASHIER – [2
POSTS]
A. KEY
QUALIFICATION
1.
Holder of a ordinary
Secondary Education/Advance Secondary Education and ATEC, NABE stage III or Equivalent [higher
qualification will be advantageous]
2.
Must be computer literate
[at least advance certificate in computer applications]
3.
Must be fluent in both
written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages.
4.
Must be a Tanzanian
citizen
5.
Not above 35 years of
age.
B. KEY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The holder of this post
who reports to shift in charge will be responsible for:
1.

2.
Carrying out activities
as described in the Road Traffic [maximum weight
Vehicles] Regulations, 2001 which include the following:

Collecting and banking
all weighbridge charges [fees] according to weighbridge report form.
·
Seeking current USD
exchange rate issued by Bank of Tanzanian for case of imposing charges that are
equivalent to Tanzanian Shilling.
·
Filling all record
timely.
·
Maintaining asset
register.
·
Observing good customer
care dignity and Integrity.
·
Reporting all matters to
the shift in charge.
·
Performing other duties
as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Accounts and Administration
/Regional Manager.
6. JOB TITLE : OFFICE
ATTENDANT – [1 POST]
A. KEY QUALIFICATION
1.
Holder of a Form Four
2.
Must be fluent in written
and spoken Kiswahili and English languages.
3.
Must be a Tanzanian
citizen
4.
Not above 35 years of
age.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The holder of this post
who reports to shift in charge will be responsible for:
1.
Shunting the documents
from the weighbridge to main Office
TANROADS when needed.
2. Keeping clean office
environment and all Office surrounding.
3. Ensure that all Office
equipment is maintained in good order.
4. Perform such other
related duties as may be assigned by weighbridge
In charge.
7. JOB
TITLE: SECURITY GUARD – [3 POSTS]
A. KEY
QUALIFICATION
1. Holder of form four
certificate
2. Holder of certificate in
National Service or Mgambo
3. Must be faithful.
4. Must be fluent in both
written and spoken Kiswahili and English
Languages.
5. Must be a Tanzanian
citizen.
6. Not above 35 years of
age.
B. DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The holder of this post who
reports to shift in charge will be responsible for:
1. making sure that vehicle
used in weighbridge is well maintained.
2. Receiving order from
your supervisors just in case of any ambush
Which is supposed to be done.
3. making sure that the
vehicle used in weighbridge is fuelled all the time.
4. Receiving the order from
your supervisors.
5. Perform such other
related duties as may be assigned by weighbridge
In charge.
