England midfielder Theo Walcott is set to sit out Arsenal's next three games, and possibly more, as he continues his recovery from abdominal surgery

Theo Walcott has been ruled out for at least another fortnight after suffering
a setback on his recovery from abdominal surgery.
It means that he will miss the Champions
League match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, the Premier
League fixture with Crystal Palace and the Capital One Cup game against
Chelsea. He then has a small chance of being fit to face Liverpool on Nov 2,
although the match against Manchester United on Nov 10 might now be a more
realistic target. That would put Walcott in contention for involvement in
England’s Wembley friendlies against Chile and Germany on Nov 15 and Nov 19.
Although Arsenal
manager Arsène Wenger would prefer his player eased himself back gently
after undergoing surgery, Walcott now faces competition from Andros Townsend
for his place in the national team and, with England not playing again until
March, and a World Cup on the horizon, he will be keen to feature.
Walcott had returned to training last week but suffered the setback while
running on Thursday. “He had to stop, to jog again – he is at least two
weeks away now,” Wenger said.
The Arsenal manager is also waiting on a doctor’s assessment of Mathieu
Flamini to know if he is available on Tuesday after he was forced off with
concussion and blurred vision following a clash of heads with Alexander
Tettey. “After I got the bang on the head it was very hard for me to just
speak and to know where I was,” Tettey said.
